St. Joseph, Louisiana
Tensas Parish

You can take a walking tour of St. Joseph to see Victorian homes and buildings. The name of the town came from nearby lake named St. Joseph.

In the early days, Jesuit priests traveling with early explorers gave the names of saints to lakes in the area.  St. Joseph began as Densmore's landing with a house and a store where early river travelers stopped to rest on their way to New Orleans.
